News from the Prez

Good Afternoon!  The sun sure is a welcome sight in the sky.  If only the temperature was a little higher on the thermometer.  Hopefully in three weeks spring break will bring us some warmer weather once again.  In the meantime, here are a couple of items keeping my mind off the cold…I hope they do the same for you.

Tomorrow our kids will have oranges for their fresh fruit/veggie snack.  We could use a couple of people who can help cut the fruit starting between 7:45 and 8:15.  The task takes about an hour.  If you have time to help, please contact Lisa ShebestaShebesta@charter.net

Friday's fresh fruit/veggie snack for the kids is oranges.  We could use a couple of people who can help cut the fruit starting between 7:45 and 8:15am.  The task takes about an hour.  If you have time, please contact Lisa ShebestaShebesta@charter.net.

Members of the Dane County Consortium of School Boards are holding a community meeting about the future of public education.  The meeting is this Sunday, March 27 at 3:00pm.  More information is posted for you on the PFO blog - http://leopoldpfo.blogspot.com/2011/03/march-27-community-meeting-future-of.html

I hope your family was able to spend some time at Fun Fest last Saturday.  Thank you very much to everyone – students, families, staff and community members - who helped make Fun Fest 2011 a great success.  Organizers are making notes for next year and are always interested in feedback from families.  Ask your kids what they liked best – did they play Plunko until they couldn't plunk any more or was Bean the Principal their favorite game (shhh…don't tell Mr. B)?  Did you have enough food to eat?  We could not have asked for a nicer day – bright sunshine and great temperatures made the cafeteria that much more inviting.  Please send your comments to the PFO by replying to this email – and know that several changes were made this year based on family feedback received in 2010.  Thank you so much and we'll see you next year for Fun Fest 2012!!

Have a great week – see you at school!

News From the Prez..

Good evening and welcome to March!  It's that time of year again – spring time and March Madness!  I don't know about you but I'm quite ready for at least one day where the temperatures hit 80…maybe two...and the snow is gone…without all the mud.  Since I'm wishing, fresh cheese pizza would be good too…hmmmmm!

Our year of PFO FUNdraising events continues this week with a stop at Little Caesar's Pizza.  On Wednesday, March 2 visit Little Caesar's Pizza, 3042 Fish Hatchery Road in Fitchburg, between 11:00 am and 10:00 pm and 25% of your purchases will come back to our school as a donation.  Little Caesar's is one-half mile from Leopold heading east on Post Road in the Fitchburg Ridge Shopping Center.  The event lasts 11 hours so you can support Leopold throughout the day – stop by early for lunch; pick up a large Hot-N-Ready pie (or two!) on your way home; head back later for an evening snack.  All day – all purchases – what a delicious way to support your school.  Tell your family, friends, co-workers and anyone else you meet to head out to Little Caesar's on March 2nd.  When you go, please thank Little Caesar's for their support of our neighborhood school.  Thank you and Bon Appetite

Speaking of Fun – Leopold FUN FEST is scheduled for Saturday, March 19th from 12:00 – 3:00 pm.  You should find advance ticket sale flyers coming home in backpacks later this week.  If you need an extra copy they are available at http://leopoldpfo.blogspot.com/ and click on the Documents tab.  The raffle flyer was distributed late last week and may not have made it home in backpacks.  As in the past, families have the opportunity to contribute towards the grade-level raffle baskets.  Parents can send in an item that fits the theme or a donation from $1 – $5 to the classroom teacher.  Money will be used to purchase theme-related items for the basket.  Please turn in items or money by Friday March 11th.  Basket themes for this year are as follows:

   Kindergarten - Outdoor Fun

   1st:  Movie & Game Night

   2nd:  Fun & Games

   3rd:  Arts & Crafts

   4th:  Wisconsin

   5th:  Cupcakes

Any other raffle donations are welcome!   Contact Julia Peterson at kcmatj@yahoo.com or 819-0745 if you have items you wish to donate.

Classroom/Field Trip Pictures Needed!!!  We are putting the final touches on the 2010-2011 Leopold Yearbook and are looking for some photos of children that parents have taking while helping in the classroom - or chaperoning a field trip.  These photos will be used throughout the yearbook in collages (or groupings).  Digital images are preferred, but printed photographs work too.  For digital images, please e-mail them to Jackie Cooper (bastyr@cae.wisc.edu) - make sure you let me know the teacher and grade!  If you have printed photographs, please send them in your child's backpack in an enveloped marked "Attn. PFO/Yearbook Chair" - include your child's name, teacher and grade so that I can return them to you after scanning.  Thanks!  Jackie Cooper, Yearbook Chair

A Lifetouch photographer will return to Leopold to take candid photos for the yearbook next Thursday, March 10.  We need a volunteer or two (or three) to escort the photographer around school.  A schedule will be provided so all you need to do is make sure they stay on schedule and don't get lost in the halls.  If you are available to help please contact Lore Mayr at lorelynmayr@yahoo.com  Say cheese!

Have a great evening and we'll see you at school (and Little Caesars!)
